Washington (AP) Some families head to federal court in Washington today, arguing that there is a connection between a mercury-based preservative used in childhood vaccines and autism.

Two 10-year-old boys from Oregon will serve as test cases for whether thousands of families who've filed claims should be compensated.

Many members of the medical community are skeptical of the families' claims. They worry that the claims about the dangers of vaccines could cause some people to skip getting vaccines that prevent illness.
