New York (AP) New York mayor Michael Bloomberg says the construction crane collapse on the upper east side is “unacceptable.”

He says seven buildings have been evacuated as a precaution following the collapse.

The accident has left one construction worker dead and two others seriously injured.

At a news conference, Bloomberg said one of the casualties was in the cab of the crane, and a second person was struck on the street. He said he didn't know about the third person, and didn't specify which one was killed.

Bloomberg says the city plans to investigate. Meantime, crews are still digging through the wreckage.
