Conservatives make gun issue new rallying cry

CONCORD, N.H. (AP) -- An immigration debate is raging and a budget crisis looms in Congress, but guns are the new rallying cry that conservative activists from New Hampshire to Colorado have seized on for the tea party movement.

Tea party leaders say the focus on blocking new gun control laws has sprung up with little coordination from national groups.

They say it doesn't matter that neither President Barack Obama nor congressional Democrats are calling for a wholesale repeal of gun rights. Tea party activists are enraged by the possibility of what they see as any erosion of the Second Amendment.

    Of course, Mrs. Brady doesn't speak for the Democratic party, so what exactly is your point? No one who actually has any authority on the matter is calling for a complete ban on guns. Which is what the article said.

    Well I would guess that the AP doesn't remember the promise from the Brady anti-gun group. When they passed the Clinton gun band, Old lady Brady said, "Now we can go after the rest of the Guns". The problem is we have laws on the books that encourage people to go and attack "Gun Free Zones", just like what happened in Aurora, Colorado attack. It was the only "Gun Free Zone" locally. Get rid of those laws and we and our children will be safer. Just like the "Make my day laws" makes everyone safer.
