GOP challenges military march in gay parade

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Congressional Republicans are questioning the Defense Department's decision to allow active-duty troops to wear their military uniforms while marching in San Diego's gay pride parade this past weekend.

Sen. Jim Inhofe of Oklahoma sent a letter to Defense Secretary Leon Panetta on Tuesday asking him to explain why a waiver was made to a department directive that allowed service members in uniform to participate in a political activity. Inhofe said department policy prohibits such participation.

Separately, Rep. J. Randy Forbes of Virginia condemned the waiver and called on the Pentagon to end "these dangerous exceptions to policy for political purposes."

Last Saturday, dozens of soldiers, sailors and Marines in uniform marched in the parade. They were joined by dozens more military personnel in civilian clothes.

I don't see hetrosexuals going about demonstrating that they are hetrosexual. Why then to Homosexuals feel the need to put their sexual preference out there for everyone to see. Gays are becoming more like minority groups. Any time they don't get their way they pull the "Gay Card". Next they will want their own "Special Olympics".

Ooh. An insult. I'm devastated, really I am. I'd challenge you to a battle of wits, but you present the appearance of being unarmed. If you're down to meaningless (and hilariously wrong) insults, then the discussion must be over. Funny how these never last more than two responses before the anti-gay crowd has nothing left but insults. They should think about that.

A non-issue trotted out by the Defence department to deflect attention from the shabby job the non-commander in chief is doing, nothing more and certainly nothing newsworthy.

And its now a complete comment thread, now that Disgusted has thrown in his obligatory Obama slam. We can all go home now.

So whats the point of your comment Scott? All Disgusted did, was point out the obvious.

The point was that the story had nothing to do with Obama, yet 'Disgusted', as usual, felt it necessary to make a derogatory comment about him. Just sayin...

Hey Anonymous...since you think you're God, let me remind you: "you hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye."

Don' waste your time, Scott, Anonymous is just an unemployed KKCO page troll who believes his opinion is the only one that matters...most neo-cons are that way. Just move on to something else because you'll never get through to this unemployed scum with nothing better to do than attack anyone who doesn't agree with him.

Sorry Scott that is another lie promoted by you Progressives, Homos are a small puny group. What you do in your own private property is you business as long as it doesn’t involve any children or the unwilling victims. But when you go out and parade it around you are now in my face with the most disgusting act that I think you should spend time in Jail. As for the UCMJ waiver, it will change once we get a new Commander and Chief with morals. As for who issued it lets see how long they are in the military, I will bet that person shall be forced out before retirement.

It never fails to amuse me that no one here can help but assume if you defend the rights of gays, you must be gay yourself. Sorry, I'm not. I just don't see any reason to care what someone else does in private or in public as long as no laws are violated. Guess what? It's not illegal to march down the street with a rainbow flag. Free speech, remember? Oh, right. You think they should be in jail for that.

Sure you are not, everyone reading this can tell you must be. What are you afraid of coming out and parading around, or is there really something not natural about this groups what should be private activities.

And don't forget, they are also supposed to put homosexuals to death. Funny how they skip that part and just complain about it.

You have to ignore Scott when it comes to his defence of the gays, he knows the scripture also says that those who support them will also be judged the same as the homosexuals. They share the same future.

I am going to eat crabs, and mock the gays, and convert a bunch of Muslim to become a Saints. They do have a cure for homosexuality that does not include death, but that can't be said now can it.

It is against the UCMJ. Gay parades do nothing to benefits this country; in fact it is a vile display of deviance.

Must be nice, getting to decide for everyone what is a "vile display" and what isn't. And the DoD specifically allowed them to march in uniform in this parade.

The majority do no not promote their sexual preference, which is between a man and a woman. Come on what next “donkey sex pride parades”, just a bunch of low life scum of the earth trying to justify their mental illness as some how being normal, NOT.

So you support "tyranny of the majority". As long as the majority agrees, its ok. If the majority doesn't agree, then it should be banned. I don't know what country you live in, but it isn't the US.

Why is a gay pride parade more political than a Fourth of July parade?
    • reply
by GJ mom on Jul 24, 2012 at 04:53 PM in reply to
The parade on the 4th is held as a celebration of our countries independence. Not a celebration of whom you choose to have sex with.

So the 4th of July parade is more political, and servicemen wore their uniforms in it. Sorry, I don't see the issue here.
