ATLANTA (AP) - A spokesman for Newt Gingrich says the former House Speaker will announce Wednesday he is running for President.

Rick Tyler said Gingrich will make the announcement by facebook and twitter. He will give an interview to Fox News later that night.

Gingrich will offer his first speech as a Presidential Candidate at the Georgia Republican Party Convention on Friday.

Gingrich has made no secret of his White House ambitions. He's been raising money and assembling a campaign team for months.

Getting into the race marks a comeback attempt by the former Georgia congressman who stepped down from the House in 1998 after four tumultuous years as speaker. He had led the GOP to their first majority in the House in 40 years.

Why is the 2012 Republican presidential field with zeros? None of them has a chance of beating Obama.

Why is the 2008 Democrat presidential field chock full of zero's? That, sir, is the real question that must be answered.

Come back to reality and answer the real question. Stop living in the past. None of these goobers have a snowball chance in hell of beating President Obama.

Newt Gingrich just wants another opportunity to cheat on his new wife with an intern just like the TRUMP did or does, the only difference is that Newt buys American unlike the DONALD who can't handle the made in the US label.

Newt Gingrich has the audacity to run for president! WOW! Has everyone forgotten the "Promises to America" Newt made and never kept one of them. Not only did he not keep the promises he disappeared for a decade. This guy has about as much integrity as moldy bread.

Well, it was better to have a speaker with a "contract with America" rather than one that says "Oh, Oh, we have to aaaah pass the bill so you can find out what is in it." If Newt can find a non-photoshopped birth certificate, knows the correct number of states, and doesn't apologize for hateful America, then he has my vote. Anyone else but the socialists we have in power now.

Here's the problem with you libs: What you take him to task for ("Promises to America") was not bad. Less government, control and taxes is good for the people. He also did a heck of an American history series on PBS. But...the scum left his wife while she lay dying of cancer in the hospital.
