The Republican National Convention keynote speaker takes the podium Tuesday night, calling for stronger White House leadership.

In his speech, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie shared his own background with the delegates, and he focused on what he said is a lack of leadership in the oval office.

He said it’s time to end the “era of absentee leadership” in Washington, pointing to his own experience in New Jersey as he cut taxes, balanced the budget and took on unions.

People are willing to share in the sacrifice, he said, when faced with hard choices.

Christie assured the delegation that Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan have the leadership to make America great once again.

"Tonight, we choose the path that has always defined our nation's history. Tonight, we finally and firmly answer the call that so many generations have had the courage to answer before us. Tonight, we stand up for Mitt Romney as the next President of the United States," said Christie.

The governor told the crowd –-and voters in the TV audience-- that there are tough choices to be made and the solutions to our problems will not be painless.

Romney's wife, Ann, also addressed the convention, painting a personal picture of her husband rarely seen on the campaign trail.

I missed the speech. My screen isn't that wide. I only caught his belt giggling. Hopefully, they had paddles ready, in case.

No retort from the liberals other than making fun of a person for his looks? Why not listen to what was said and the truth behind it. Everything that he said is the basis for this country becoming one if not THE best in the world. That claim is in danger since the orator took over. What a great speech, that was thoughtful, put together and well delivered, all without the use of a teleprompter that had pronunciation written into it. I will take a fat smart guy any day over a marxist fraud!

He used a teleprompter. Umemployment has gone up in NJ since he took office. His "balanced budget" is an accounting trick by not fully funding pensions

Chris is fatter than any rhinoceros I've ever seen. He has some weighty issues that are hazardous to his health,

I don't care if he's skinny or fat. I want politicians who speak out, speak the truth, and aren't afraid to do what is right. Sounds like Cristie to me.

I prefer a politician who follows the Constitution verbatim, and doesn't pick and choose. If he were in Texas, he would be a far left wing liberal.
