DENVER (AP) -- Civil union supporters are urging House Republican lawmakers to allow a vote on the measure.
Dozens of them rallied outside the Colorado Capitol on Tuesday, directing chants of "Let them vote!" to lawmakers. Republicans who control the House are divided over the issue.
The last-minute drama comes during the last two days of the legislative session.
Lawmakers have scheduled a final hearing on the proposal in the afternoon.
If the bill passes, the full House of Representatives would have to take an initial vote on the bill later in the day for the proposal to advance to a final vote on Wednesday.
Two Republicans have joined Democrats in passing the bill out of 2 previous House committees.
