Obama vies for college votes in Colorado

President Obama is on the campaign trail this week as Republicans gather in Tampa, Fla.

Tuesday, the president addressed about 13,000 people at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, just as students returning to class for the fall semester.

During his speech, Obama said the Romney campaign described the younger voters as being a lost generation, and he urged them not to give up hope.

The president also criticized Mitt Romney’s health care plan, saying it would be called "Romney doesn't care" when compared to his own "Obamacare" plan.

"This is what is called the ‘Romney doesn't care’ plan. Kick seven million young people off their parents plan. Raise prescription drug costs for seniors. Tell folks with pre-existing conditions you're out of luck again. I do care. And I think all of us care, because at some point in our lives might need," said Obama.

The Colorado Romney campaign came to the presidential candidate's defense.

In a statement, Ryan Williams, Romney's campaign spokesman, called Obama's campaign "more frustrated and flailing than usual:"

"The President’s desperate attacks tonight stand in stark contrast to the Romney-Ryan plan that will get our country back on track and create 12 million new jobs and more take-home pay for middle-class Americans,” said Williams.

Polls suggest the president is leading Romney with college-aged voters in this year’s race.

Air Force One will depart from the Fort Collins-Loveland Airport at 9:40 Wednesday morning. Obama will be back in Colorado to visit Boulder on Sunday.

He should save his breath. He has the "college" vote. Most are firmly entrenched in the liberal, socialist movement at that age. Ideology based on ignorance and 12 years of indoctrination the person who should be working the colleges is Romney. Like the old saying "If you are young and not a Democrat you don't have a heart. If you are old and a not a Conservative you don't have a brain".

The only votes in Colorado that count are the front range vote. We have no representation to speak of in Western Colorado, half the state will be red, the other half blue.

I think the youngsters might surprise us. Most of them understand that democrat cowards stole their future earnings on Christmas Eve 2009 when they passed the Obummercare travesty and will return the favor in November.

I would be careful about that coward statement with Romney taking deferments and hiding behind religion to avoid service in Vietnam.

Tough choice this: the Choom Gangster or the religious dissenter. I think I'll have to go toke a bit before I can figure out what's right.

I think the coward statement sticks good and Romney sure hasn't shown himself to be a coward. He, like hundreds of thousands, went to college while the Vietname war was going on, and did not get drafted. So what? That doesn't make you a draft dodger. Going to Canada makes you a draft dodger and he didn't do that. So, your statement is not true.

Old timer, I thought you said you went to Vietnam, one who had really been to nam would actually spell it right don't you think? You just busted yourself out as a liar, no wonder you defend people who hid out in college and or used the co status or the missionary dodge.

Spelling and my big fingers don't go together. BTW - Vietnam is also spelling Viet Nam depending on the person writing, but it doesn't have the E at the end, (which I apologize for) However, doesn't change the fact that I was there for a bunch of years as an 11B and know what went on. You though, I don't think have served in any military. Am I wrong?

To anonymous - I know lots of people with the Infantry MOS but most of them have never seen combat. Have you or are you one of the REMF's who worked in the mailroom with an Infantry MOS. I've seen lots of them at the VA, trying to spout their heroics and getting shot down by the real combat soldiers. I've also seen lots of veterans, who did not carry the Infantry MOS, who have seen actual combat and done a tremendous job of soldiering. The MOS does not mean squat, it's what the person does while in the military.

How did Romney hide behind religion to avoid service? He was enrolled in college at the time like many others. Where in the Mormon religion does it say "cannot enlist in any armed forces to help defend the beliefs of your country"? Please get educated before you post drivel!

Ah yes, the ignorant resort to name calling when they cant answer the question. Please read question about the Mormon religion and answer it. I dont care if he went on a mission or not. That was not the question. I am assuming that you served the country as you replied "infantry" in post, for that I applaud you. But you must surely see, as a veteran, that everything you fought for is about to be thrown out by a President who cares not about America, but about himself!

Brainwashing the young while they cant decide for themselves. We will see where these impressionable young people stand in four years when they are still unemployed and living in their parents house.

Obama policy creates a dependent nation, that the government will control your life the same way we control the lives of dogs. I don't want my parents controlling me why would I want Idiot Government employees con trolling my life. It just stagnates creativity and kills the American dream of pursuant of a wealthy life, monetarily and financially.

With Romney dreaming and pursuit is all you'll get. They leave no chance at wealth unless you already one of them. BTW: monetarily and financially is pretty much the same. If you don't know that at college age then your parents are wasting money.

They've regulated everything so much that many companies are quiting or not expanding. After Romney gets President, then there is a chance of getting our country back.

Your alternative reality is amazing. Corporate profits are at pre-recession levels, stock market is pretty much as good. If they're not hiring it's because they can use "tough times" sentiment to squeeze more money out of existing workforce. When sh|t comes out of your facet and your kid gets cancer from toy paint then you'll be screaming again for EPA and regulations.
