GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) -- State Rep. Ray Scott, announced his election bid for Colorado Senate District 7.
Scott, a Republican said in a written campaign announcement "After serving as a representative in both House District 54 and House District 55 for the last three years, I am distinctly prepared to be a strong voice for both districts by serving as State Senator," Scott said. "My background in agriculture, energy and business made this decision very easy for me and my family."
Scott was originally elected to House District 54 in 2010. He was reelected to District 55 in 2012. The Rifle native says, "Energy and the incredible opportunities it brings for future generations is a passion of mine," Scott added. "We are an energy dependent society. That's why my background is so important to Mesa County." Scott also serves on the "Energy Council" where 12 energy producing states help develop policy for Colorado and the Nation.
The election is 16 months away, in November of 2014.
