CRAIG, Colo. (AP) -- Mitt Romney is spending the day in Colorado and Nevada, but by the end of the evening Texas should give him the delegates he needs to clinch the Republican presidential nomination.

There are 152 delegates at stake in today's Texas primary, and they are awarded in proportion to the statewide vote. So, if he gets 38 percent of the vote or more, Romney will have the 1,144 delegates needed to win the nomination.

With his major challengers out of the race, Romney has done no worse than 67 percent in recent primaries in Kentucky, Arkansas, Nebraska and Oregon.

Romney opened his day in Colorado's coal country, where he pledged that he would not forgot the communities still hurting economically. Officials in the city of Craig say the area's economy is improving, but Romney says the recovery is too slow.

Later, Romney will finish his campaign day at a Las Vegas fundraiser with Donald Trump.

Trump has been renewing discredited suggestions that President Barack Obama wasn't born in the United States. The Obama campaign released a video today criticizing Romney for not standing up to Trump and the more extreme elements in his party.
