DENVER (AP) - Former Republican Congressman Tom Tancredo, who quit the party last year to run as a third-party candidate for Colorado Governor, is headed back to the GOP.

Tancredo said he is coming back to the Republican Party “because they're the only game in town.” He told the Associated Press he plans to rejoin the party this week.

Tancredo said his decision to join the American Constitution Party was “opportunistic,” but he and the party had an understanding that he would not stay with the party.

GOP State Chairman Dick Wadhams, who clashed publicly with Tancredo over criticism of the Republican Party, said everyone is welcome to join the Colorado GOP. He refused to say whether he thought Tancredo would be welcomed.

Tancredo didn't cost Colorado the governorship, the "Republican" party candidate cost Colorado the governorship.

The "Establishment of the Colorado G.O.P." lost the gubernatorial race. Tancredo at least had the guts to stand up and be counted on his own merits. Entering the campaign late on a third party ticket he did himself well with the numbers. Josh and Scott got very bad advice from their handlers.

"opportunistic" this is embarassing.. I voted & believed in Tancredo..it would not of mattered to me what party he was running under..I liked his stand against immigration etc., But this is just to show us the reality of our politicians ego. If he truly cared about our country I would of rather heard him say he was going back to GOP which I voted for all of them in the other areas of my ballot, it would have been more meaningful to say because the GOP party is taking us in a new direction & promised to help the economy etc...I am PROUD of the GOP

Tom is another turncoat, RINO, we do not need or want him in our party. He caused the Republican party the governorship in this state. If he wants to join the Republican party he can go to another state.
