CANON CITY, Colo. (AP) - Colorado Gubernatorial Candidate Tom Tancredo says President Barack Obama is a bigger threat to the United States than Al-Qaida or terrorism.

He made the comments while campaigning in Canon City Tuesday, and his comments were reported Wednesday by the Canon City Daily Record.

Tancredo said Obama posed a threat to the Constitution, saying: “It's not Al-Qaida, it's the guy sitting in the White House.”

Tancredo also said he believes Obama and Democratic Colorado Gubernatorial Candidate John Hickenlooper are “kindred spirits.”

Tancredo has a reputation for controversial comments, including a suggestion that the United States bomb Islam's holy sites if attacked by nuclear weapons.

The former Republican Congressman is running on the American Constitution party ticket.
