14 vehicle pile-up closes Highway 82

On the morning of Oct. 5, the Colorado State Patrol responded to a 14 vehicle pile-up on Highway 82, near Snowmass.

PITKIN COUNTY, Colo. (KKCO) Saturday morning at approximately 7:42 a.m. on eastbound Highway 82 near Snowmass, the Colorado State Patrol responded to a multi-vehicle crash including 13 passenger cars and a school bus belonging to Meeker School District.

Three drivers were transported to Aspen Valley Hospital and later released with minor injuries. The passengers on the school bus were not injured. All parties involved were properly restrained with safety belts.

The eastbound lanes of the highway were closed for three hours for investigation for recovery of vehicles.

The roadway was icy at the time of the crash.

Colorado State Patrol, Colorado Department of Transportation, Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office and Basalt Fire Department responded to the scene.
