DENVER, Colo. (KKCO) – Fifteen people are indicted in connection to an interstate prescription drug ring.

The Colorado Attorney General Office says Robin Steinke, 45, organized a group of 14 people that illegally acquired and distributed oxycodone through Denver and Oklahoma.

She is accused of directing people to obtain the drug and sell it at an inflated price (about $15 for one 30 milligram dose).

One of her alleged accomplices is pharmacist Jeffrey Clawson, who owned a pharmacy in Brighton, Colo. The attorney general says Clawson helped Steinke find “patients” to divert oxycodone for sale on the black market.

“If pharmacists and other medical professionals abuse their position and illegally divert oxycodone and other prescription drugs, they will be investigated and prosecuted just like any other drug trafficker,” said Special Agent in Charge Barbra M. Roach with the DEA’s Denver Field Division.

Along with Steinke and Clawson, 13 others are included in the 43-count indictment: Celeste Deherrera, 46; Leticia Deherrera, 24; Christopher Peterson, 39; Christopher Gemeinhardt, 22; Shawna Lawley, 30; Joel Barr, 32; Jacqueline Geist, 25; Andrew Guerrero, 22; Lisa Teitelbaum, 44; Rhonda Scott, 52; Sadie Grubbs, 24; Daniel Burke, 30; and Laurie Ann Larrew, 46.

The law enforcement sting is a win in the fight to stop prescription drug abuse across the state. Colorado has the second highest rate of prescription painkiller abuse in the country, according to the National Survey on Drug Use and Health.
