Governor Bill Ritter signed the state budget Monday.

The more than $18 billion budget will take effect July 1.

Nearly a fourth of the money will go towards K-12 education. Health care will also receive a big chunk of the money.

Governor Ritter did, however, veto three things in the budget. He vetoed a provision that would deny state funds to communities that provide state services to illegal immigrants, a requirement that the state study rates paid for elderly care, and a requirement setting up a committee to oversee a childcare program.
