Colorado Springs, Colo. (AP) A Colorado Springs man has been sentenced to 96 years in prison for gunning down a police detective in 2006.
Jereme Lamberth was sentenced Monday in the slaying of detective Jared Jensen at a bus stop in Colorado Springs. Jensen was trying to arrest Lamberth, who was suspected of stabbing his sister 13 times.
The 32-year-old Lamberth was convicted of second-degree murder in February. District Judge Larry Schwartz declared Lamberth a habitual criminal because of three prior felony convictions and quadrupled the 24-year maximum sentence.
Lamberth's attempted murder trial in his sister's stabbing is set for June 9th in Boulder.
