Summit County, Colo. (AP) Summit County rescuers say an 18-year-old man is dead after he fell about 100 feet while hiking with friends.

Summit County Rescue Group Spokesman Joeben Slivka says the man's friends called authorities about the fall Wednesday afternoon. Slivka says it happened in the Mohawk lakes trail, about 10 miles south of breckenridge.

Spokeswoman Anna Debattiste says that according to the hiker's two friends, the man was sliding in the snow, lost control and fell off a cliff into a scree field.

His name is not being released until his relatives are notified, but Slivka says he is from Summit County.
