MESA COUNTY, Colo. (KKCO) A deputy with the Western Colorado Drug Task Force unearthed 20 pounds of marijuana being transported through Mesa County just after midnight on October 29.

George Chandler, 23, and Cody Williams, 21, said they were on their way from Las Vegas to Kansas following attendance at a friend's funeral.

However, after being unable to provide a cause of death for their 21-year-old friend, a drug sniffing K-9 found the pot they were moving. The drugs are street-valued at $50,000.

Both men were arrested and booked without incident into the Mesa County Detention Facility on drug distribution related charges.
