Bear Spotted In Colorado Springs Euthanized

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - We're talking with Colorado Parks and Wildlife about their decision to euthanize a bear seen wandering the southeast part of the Springs.

Tuesday, the bear was hanging out in a tree in Colorado Springs near Pikes Peak and Coleridge.

This isn't the first time it's been in the area. That bear is the same one we first told you about on 11 News Monday. It was in another tree in the same part of town near Pikes Peak and Murray.

Wildlife officials tell us the same bear was caught and tagged back in April off Highway 24 and Lake in the Springs. It was taken all the way to Las Animas County and released, but it came back. Wildlife officials say they believe it just wasn't safe to release the bear again.

Wildlife officers want us to remind everyone to not leave your trash out where bears can get it. They say bears remember where to find food and it's dangerous for them, and for us, when they come into our neighborhoods to eat.
