Commerce City, Colo. (AP) Commerce City police say an officer found shot dead along with his wife in an apparent murder-suicide was on the verge of being arrested on investigation of the child abuse of his 3-month-old daughter.

Police sgt. Joseph Sandoval says authorities had taken the couple's daughter June 17 and 36-year-old Lakewood police officer William O'Shell faced accusations that he seriously injured her.

O'Shell and wife Tiffany Cuin-O'Shell, a former Lakewood officer, were found dead at their commerce city home Monday night. Police say they don't know who fired the weapon.

Lakewood Police spokesman Steve Davis says William O'Shell had told the department that he and other family members were being investigated for child abuse but he didn't say he was a suspect.
