BOULDER, Colo. (AP) Applications to the University of Colorado in Boulder are up 23% so far this year.

CU admissions officials say recruiters visited more high schools, domestically and internationally for classes that begin next year.

The Daily Camera reports that admissions officers also credit a move to the Common Application, used by more than 500 schools (http://bit.ly/19Dqqdj ). Using the Common Application can make it easier for students to apply to multiple schools.

As of Dec. 9, CU had received 15,910 applications. On the same date in 2012, CU had received 12,921 applications.

CU recruiters visited an extra 120 high schools this fall compared to 2012. CU recruiters also visited 26 countries, up from 19 last fall.
