Matheson, Colo. (AP) Crews have put out a fire that erupted when a propane delivery truck went off the highway and rolled in Elbert County this morning.
The nearby town of Matheson was evacuated as a precaution. Residents have been allowed to return home.
State trooper Ryan Sullivan says the crash occurred on U.S. 24 when the driver looked on the floor, went off the road and rolled the truck.
The driver has been identified as 46-year-old Kevin Tracy of Simla. Sullivan says he suffered moderate injuries and was flown to Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs.
Authorities allowed the fire to burn until the pressure in the tank decreased. There were about 2,300 gallons of propane on the truck.
The highway from Simla to Limon was closed while the fire burned and the accident was investigated. It's expected to be reopened around 10 tonight.
