As Barack Obama continues to put his new team together, a Colorado leader's name is perhaps being thrown into the mix. Governor Bill Ritter says he will meet with the President Elect's transition team this week.

Ritter left for Washington DC Monday morning, where he and Governors from across the nation will meet with Obama to discuss a second economic stimulus package.

Before taking off, he told reporters he will speak with transition team members during the visit, but says at this point there have been no discussions about a possible Cabinet position. Ritter says he plans to speak with the team about creating new clean energy jobs.

President Elect Obama has not yet announced his choice for Secretary of Energy. During his campaign, he praised Governor Ritter and the State of Colorado for their strong new energy efforts.
