Boulder, Colo. (AP) Boulder police are increasing nighttime patrols in areas where women have been sexually assaulted since Halloween.

Six women have been accosted by strangers in two neighborhoods, including University Hill, across from the University of Colorado campus.

Police officers were reassigned to night shifts in those areas two weeks ago and other officers are working overtime to expand patrols.

Police spokeswoman Sarah Huntley says no new assaults have been reported since the stepped-up patrols.

In the most recent assault, a man assaulted a woman early Dec. 5. Huntley says the man climbed on top of the woman and tried to strangle her.

She kicked the man in the groin, hit him in the face and ran to a friend’s house for help.
