Multiple Bomb Threats Could Cancel Aspen Fireworks

Much of Downtown Aspen has been evacuated after a bank reported a bomb threat.

Police say at least two blocks of downtown Aspen have been cleared after a Wells Fargo Bank called police to say bank employees received a threatening note. Soon after, a nearby Vectra Bank received a similar threat, prompting the evacuation.

The evacuation area includes the offices of the Aspen Times Newspaper and Carl's Pharmacy.

Dozens of people are milling around Downtown awaiting news about the treat, but so far no explosion has been reported.

Aspen was planning New Year's Eve fireworks in the area, and there was not immediate word on whether the celebration would be canceled.
