Hundreds Mourn Slain Eldora Ski Resort Manager

Boulder, Colo. (AP) Hundreds of people attended a memorial for Brian Mahon, the General Manager of the Eldora Ski Area who was fatally shot at work by another employee.

Mahon, 49, was remembered during a mass in Boulder Saturday as a hero whose death gave fellow employees time to escape from the gunman Dec. 30.

Authorities say Mahon ran toward the sound of gunfire at the resort and was shot by Derik Bonestroo, 24, a ski lift operator. They say Bonestroo entered a building at the start of a staff meeting and shot into the ceiling.

Witnesses say when confronted by Mahon, Bonestroo yelled something about religion and shot Mahon.

Mahon was married with two children.
