Denver (AP) A pregnant Denver woman has been charged with first-degree murder in the stabbing death of her boyfriend.
Denver District Attorney spokeswoman Lynn Kimbrough says 33-year-old Michelle Martin was charged Thursday in the death of 43-year-old Michael Jerome Thomas.
Prosecutors say Martin stabbed Thomas on Jan. 9 at the couple’s home. However, witnesses gave conflicting accounts of what led to the alleged attack.
According to court records, one of the couple’s roommates told police the stabbing happened while Martin and Thomas were arguing over martin’s cooking. Another witness said Martin stabbed Thomas because she was angry that he went to do laundry with a neighbor instead of her.
Martin has denied any wrongdoing. She remains in custody in the Denver County Jail, where she is being held without bond.
