Colorado Springs, Colo. (AP) A navy petty officer who works at the Cheyenne Mountain Air Force station has been jailed in the death of his 1-month-old son.

An arrest affidavit says 24-year-old navy petty officer 2nd class Bryan Dingman told investigators that he got frustrated and repeatedly hit his son, Enzo, after the infant “headbutted” the man while in his arms.

Dingman was arrested on suspicion of felony child abuse Monday after he called 911 to report the baby wasn’t breathing.

The arresting charge was upgraded to suspicion of first-degree murder Wednesday night when the boy died at a Colorado Springs hospital.

Dingman, a six-year navy veteran, works as a missile warning technician at a U.S. Strategic command unit at Cheyenne mountain.

He is being held without bond at the El Paso county jail.
