Denver (AP) The second of two Lakewood men who used women's thong underwear to cover their faces while robbing an Arvada convenience store has been sentenced to four years in prison.
Twenty-five-year-old Joseph Richard Espinoza was sentenced yesterday after pleading guilty to robbery on Aug. 11.
The Jefferson County District Attorney's Office says Espinoza and 20-year-old Joaquin Rico threw a rock through a window of the store on the morning of may 15 and climbed inside.
The men were wearing brightly colored thongs on their heads that barely covered their noses, mouths and chins.
Rico yelled at the clerk and hit her in the face several times, breaking her jaw. He then grabbed about $100 out of the cash registers, while Espinoza stole 37 packs of cigarettes.
Rico pleaded guilty to second-degree kidnapping and was sentenced last week to 12 years in prison.
