Bomb Threat at Aspen High School

Pitkin County, Colorado - At the end of this school day, the Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office was notified that a bomb threat had been made against Aspen High School. Because student and staff safety is the primary concern of the Sheriff’s Office and the school administration, tomorrow’s classes have been suspended for the Aspen public Elementary, Middle and High Schools.

At approximately 4:00 PM yesterday Superintendent Diana Sirko was informed of a written threat on the wall of a boys’ bathroom which said the school would be blown up on March 6th, 2009. The Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office is conducting a full investigation and will take measures to ensure the safe return of students next week.

The play “South Pacific” and Friday night’s basketball game schedules will not be affected by this incident.
