House Gives Initial Approval to Oil and Gas Rules

11 News has learned through sources in Denver today, that the State House has just given initial approval to the rules that would govern the Oil and Gas Industry.

The measure passed it's first reading in the house, there will be another reading tomorrow.

A group of Western Slope residents traveled to Denver today to show their opposition to the proposed rules. Business leaders say a recession is not the time to be making it harder for a business to operate in Colorado. Supporters of the rules say they're necessary to protect the environment and wildlife near drilling areas.
