Aspen, Colo. (AP) - A man convicted of writing nearly $150,000 worth of bad checks in the Aspen area has been sentenced to probation and ordered to repay the money.

Peter Frommer of Woody Creek pleaded guilty of the check scams and has already repaid about $74,000. His debts include $1,700 to The Aspen Skiing Co. and more than $30,000 to a local man.

Frommer says he didn't mean to scam people but that he started writing bad checks after a failed business plan. Frommer was also sentenced to three years' probation and 160 hours of community
service.
