Flags lowered for soldier killed in Afghanistan

Denver (AP) - Colorado Gov. Bill Ritter has ordered that flags at state and federal buildings be flown at half-staff on Saturday in honor of a Colorado Springs soldier killed in Afghanistan.

Sgt. James Dewel Pirtle was killed May 1. The 21-year-old was stationed at Fort Hood, Texas.

His funeral is scheduled Saturday at Fort Carson.
