PALISADE, Colo. (KKCO) - Palisade peaches are the best peaches in the world, and today begins the annual celebration of Palisade's famous fruit.

The festivities kick off at 6:00 p.m. with the crowning of this year's Palisade Peach Festival Queen and her court at the Kick Off ice Cream Social and Street Dance in downtown Palisade.

In addition to the fun activities we all know and love, there are a few new events at this year's Peach Festival. The layout Riverbend park has been completely re-done, and there's a new "Jake's Jungle" for kids. But don't worry, old favorites like the peach eating contest and Palisade's famous peach ice cream haven't gone anywhere.

So head on out to Palisade tonight at 6:00 and kick off the 45th annual Peach Festival in style!
