COLORADO SPRINGS (AP) - A bobcat attacked and killed a pet Chiahuahua in a northwest Colorado Springs neighborhood.
Colorado Division of Wildlife Spokesman Dave Lovell says the attack happened Wednesday. He says the dog was let outside and was killed before the bobcat could be chased away.
Lovell says it's rare to hear aobut a bobcat killing a dog.
Wildlife officials say they think they're being lured into the area by a hearty rabbit population.
Bobcats are about twice the size of a house cat with short, bobbed tails.
Wildlife officials say bobcats ususally hunt at dawn and dusk and that people should take precautions before letting their animals outside.
