Utah - Officials say a 9-year-old Aurora girl drowned while on vacation with her family near Bridal Veil Falls in Utah.

Authorities say Caitlin Buchkowski was visiting the falls along the Provo River with her family Monday when she slipped into the river and was carried about a mile downstream.

Searchers found her more than 30 minutes later, submerged against a rock and she died Tuesday after being rescued.

A deputy fire chief says the girl likely was in the chilly water for at least 40 minutes.

Authorities say Caitlin apparently slipped into the water as her family members were looking at the falls.
