2009 Garfield County Fair Schedule released

Organizers have released the schedule for the 2009 Garfield County Fair.

The Fair runs August 5 - 8 at the Fairgrounds in Rifle From 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Admission is free.

Monday, August 3
-Open Class: Fine Arts items accepted 12 p.m. - 6 p.m.

Tuesday, August 4
-Open Class: Needle Work items accepted 8 - 11:30 a.m., judging at 12 p.m.
-Open Class: Crafts items accepted 8 - 11:30 a.m., judging at 12 p.m.
-Open Class: Fine arts judging at 12 p.m.
-Open Class: All other divisions accepted until 6 p.m.
-4H/FFA animals arrive
-EnCana Barbecue and Boots Kickoff Party (by invitation only)

Wednesday, August 5
-4-H/FFA Junior Livestock Show - Swine 9 a.m.
-Open Class: Floriculture items accepted 8 - 11 a.m., Judging at 11:30 a.m.
-Open Class: Floral Arrangements items accepted 8 - 11 a.m., judging at 11:30 a.m.
-Open Class: Noxious Weed Display items accepted 8 - 11 a.m., judging at 11:30 a.m.
-Open Class: Field Crops items accepted 8 - 11 a.m., judging at 11:30 a.m.
-Open Class: Horticulture items accepted 8 - 11 a.m., judging at 11:30 a.m.
-Open Class: Food Preservation items accepted 8 - 8:30 a.m., judging at 9 a.m.
-Open Class: Canning items accepted 8 - 9 a.m., judging following Foods
-Kids Corral: pony rides, clown, face painting, child ID kits, sand box, sidewalk chalk art
-Amusement Rides by Airnastics
-Kid Fiddlers at 5 p.m. in the grandstand ($5 ticket covers children's rodeo to follow)
-Children’s Rodeo/Mutton Busting at 6 p.m. in the Outdoor Arena
-Community Movie Night in the Grandstand at dusk (free)

Thursday, August 6
-4-H/FFA Junior Livestock Show - Goat 8 a.m.
-4-H/FFA Junior Livestock Show - Sheep 12 p.m.
-4-H/FFA Junior Livestock Show - Rabbit 3 p.m.
-Open Class: Apple Pie contest at 11 a.m. in the South Hall
-Open Class: Commissioner Cookie Jar contest at 12 p.m. in the South Hall
-Kids Corral: pony rides, clown, face painting, child ID kits, sand box, sidewalk chalk art
-Amusement Rides by Airnastics
-Colorado Animal Adoption program from 3:30 - 6:30 p.m.
-Kid Fiddlers at 5 p.m. in the Grandstand ($10 per adult, $8 per child/senior, 3 and under free, ticket covers CPRA rodeo to follow)
-CPRA Rodeo 7 p.m. in the Grandstand
-Beer Garden with Live Entertainment by Amy Scruggs
-Wine Tasting Event from 5:30 - 8:30 p.m. must be 21 (free)

Friday, August 7
-4-H/FFA Junior Livestock Show - Poultry 9 a.m.
-4-H/FFA Junior Livestock Show - Beef in the Livestock Barn 1 p.m.
-Kids Corral: pony rides, clown, face painting, child ID kits, sand box, sidewalk chalk art
-Senior/Pee Wee Classic in the Livestock Barn sponsored by Cheryl & Co.
-Amusement Rides by Airnastics
-Beer Garden with Live Entertainment by Amy Scruggs
-Demolition Derby in the Grandstand at 7 p.m. ($8)

Saturday, August 8
-Re-2 School Supply Drive Day: bring school supplies donations for area school children!
-4-H/FFA Round Robin in the Livestock Barn at 8 a.m.
-Parade 10 a.m.
-Buyers' BBQ 11:30 a.m.
-4-H/FFA Junior Livestock Sale 1 p.m.
-Car Show in the Fairgrounds Parking Lot
-Strolling Magician
-Kids Corral: pony rides, clown, face painting, child ID kits, sand box, sidewalk chalk art
-Amusement Rides by Airnastics
-Beer Garden with Live Entertainment by Amy Scruggs
-Comedy Hypnosis Shows at 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
-Concert with Jamie O'Neal and Joey & Rory, at 7 p.m., buy tickets online
