Aspen Institute auditorium gets renovations

Aspen, Colo. (AP) - An auditorium on the Aspen Institute Campus is undergoing a $12.3 million renovation starting this month.

The 48-year-old Paepcke Auditorium has problems with electricity and plumbing, and the building has leaks.

Renovations start Aug. 17. The auditorium is expected to reopen in early June.

The Institute conducts seminars and conferences and has a leadership fellowship program.

Speakers at this year's events have included Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, New York Times Columnist Thomas Friedman and Documentary Filmmaker Ken Burns.
