Three Fort Carson soldiers killed in combat

The Defense Department says three Fort Carson soldiers have died of injuries from an attack in Afghanistan.

Military officials say that insurgents attacked the soldiers' patrol with bombs and rocket-propelled grenades Saturday.

27-year-old Corporal Jonathan Walls of Pennsylvania, 21-year-old Private First Class Richard Jones of North Carolina, and 19-year-old Private Patrick Fitzgibbon of Tennessee died.

All were assigned to the 1st Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment, 4th Briage Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division.
