Crews say as of Wednesday morning, the Allred Wildfire was 50 percent contained.
The 3,000 acre lightning–sparked wildfire is burning in the northwest part of the state.
Firefighters say the blaze started at about 4 p.m. Monday on federal land 20 miles west of the small town of Maybell and grew quickly.
Maybell is 100 miles north of Grand Junction.
Officials say no structures are threatened and no injuries have been reported.
