Firefighters are battling a more than 100 acre fire near Gateway.

Officials say they have a line around the fire and they're working hard to keep it as winds gust up to 35 mph in the area.

The fire is burning through grass and oak brush in what firefighters are calling steep, inaccessible terrain.

Historic structures in the area that were threatened yesterday are now safe fire officials say.

There are more than 100 firefighters on scene, including eight smoke jumpers, two engine crews and four hand crews.

No word on when containment is expected.

This is a very, very incomplete report. In fact, poorly written. Where is the fire near Gateway? Is that why I saw 5-6 Hotshot trucks driving down Hwy 141 two days ago? What is the containment percentage? What's going on???? I live two miles from Gateway and would be nice to have known more about the location of the fire.
