Denver (AP) - A 28-year-old Glenwood Springs man has been sentenced to seven years in federal prison for robbing a bank last December.
The U.S. Attorney's Office in Denver says Jeffrey David Smith, who was sentenced Wednesday, will spend three years on supervised released following his prison term.
Smith pleaded guilty in June to robbing a bank in Glenwood Springs.
Authorities say Smith was wearing a hooded sweatshirt and a skull cap when he walked into the bank. Smith told authorities he handed a note to a teller and raised his sweatshirt to reveal what looked like a handgun in his waistband.
Bank employees identified Smith from a photographic lineup.
Investigators tracked him to Las Vegas, where he was arrested. They said a search of his hotel room turned up a BB pistol.
