The Gunnison Tunnel is being celebrated all month long, and Friday, you can help ring in a century of success in Montrose.

The Celebration of the Century Headquarters and Gunnison Tunnel Museum will host an open house Friday, September 11 from 5 to 8 p.m. 301 East Main in Montrose.

Uncompahgre Valley residents are invited to stop by, enjoy a beverage and snack, and check out the historical displays that depict how the Gunnison Tunnel was built and dedicated 100 years ago this month.

The Gunnison Tunnel construction started in 1904, and supplies irrigation and domestic water for most of the Uncompaghre Valley. This includes Montrose, Delta, and Olathe, as well as 80,000 acres of surrounding homes and farmland.
