GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - The Clifton man who threatened to blow up the old Fruita refinery building has been sentenced.
A federal judge sentenced Michal Sconlau, 37, to 15 months in prison. He was indicted by a Grand Jury last August for willfully making a threat and maliciously conveying false information as well as being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Schonlau will be on parole for another three years after his prison term, and has to report to prison within 15 days. He's been out on bond since the incident.
Schonlau called the FBI in August of 2012 and threatened to blow up the old building using a 200 million gallon propane tank on the property. The threat shut down nearby roads and forced the evacuation of homes and businesses for about two hours.
