BOULDER, Colo. (AP) -- A 24-year-old Boulder woman accused of failing to get treatment for a 3-month-old puppy that suffered broken legs and burns has been arrested.
The Daily Camera reports (http://bit.ly/181mWGx) Caitlin Lesko was arrested Thursday on suspicion of aggravated animal cruelty and cruelty to animals with neglect or mistreatment.
Staff at the South Boulder Animal Hospital called police Oct. 29 to report a puppy had been brought in that had been neglected. The French bulldog named Bamboo had third-degree burns on half of its stomach as well as two broken legs.
Investigators say Lesko told them the dog's legs were injured before she bought it, and the pet was burned when she put it too close to the heater to keep it warm. She says she tried to get treatment for the dog's broken legs but couldn't afford it.
