RIFLE, Colo. (KKCO) - Crews fighting the Brush Creek Fire are nearing full containment.
The 400 acre wildfire burning 10 miles north of Rifle is now 90% contained.
Firefighters expect to have 97% containment by the end of the day tomorrow.
Containment lines will not be built on the remaining 3% of the fire perimeter because of the extremely steep slope, but crews will continue to monitor and work the fire as long as needed.
Despite strong winds, the fire hasn't grown for several days, and it's not expected to grow further.
The Rifle Gap Reservoir is now fully open to boating.
