GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. Before you gobble up your Thanksgiving dinner, the Grand Junction Fire Department is asking you to put on your running shoes for the 7th Annual 5K Turkey Trot.

This year, the race will start and finish on Main street at 9:00 a.m. today, organizers say that will give more access to spectators and bring families downtown for the festive event.

Last year's event drew 1,300 runners.

The cost is $25 for people ages 16 and up and $15 for ages 5 to 15.
Kids under 5 are free.

Strollers and pets are welcome at this year's event.

All the money raised from the turkey trot benefits toys for tots, Colorado professional firefighters foundation and sick or injured fire fighters.
