CO woman who drowned treated Aurora theater victims

DENVER, Colo (AP) The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office said officers responded to a report of a drowning a little after noon on Aug. 8. The victim has been identified as 46-year-old Jennifer Anne Galagher, of Denver.

She’d been swimming the night before and was found missing the next morning on the 3,847-acre lake. Shortly after contacting authorities, a family member found Gallagher under a nearby dock. Medical personnel pronounced her dead at the scene.

Gallagher worked at the University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora.

"She worked the morning after the Batman massacre in a very busy unit of the hospital - so she saw everything really, some really bad injuries," her husband Greg told Ireland's Herald newspaper on Friday.

She and other hospital personnel met President Obama on July 22 when he visited the hospital and talked to some of the victims and their families.

She is survived by her husband and 5-year-old son.
