Las Animas County, Colo. – A sergeant with Colorado State Patrol pulled over a vehicle that was going over the speed limit and found thousands of dollars.

Just after 10 a.m. yesterday morning, a deputy stopped a vehicle on Interstate 25 heading south. The vehicle was going 20 miles over the posted speed limit. The male driver was not a registered owner of the vehicle and couldn’t explain why he was driving the vehicle.

The driver was cited for speeding and the vehicle was towed.

A weapon was later found in the vehicle and the driver who was a convicted felon, was checked for weapons. This search resulted in a large amount of money found along with multiple bank and gift cards. A K-9 search was also done and it found over $15,000.

The driver was released and the money was taken for processing.

This investigation is currently ongoing.
