CSU proposal to study emissions

GARFIELD COUNTY, Colo (KKCO) According to some reports, some residents in the Battlement Mesa community are worried the nearby drilling is exposing them to hazardous substances. That's why the commissioners want more research done to see the impacts of natural gas extraction near communities. On Monday, it's expected CSU researchers will propose a three-year study of emissions.

why is CSU doing this study instead of CMU? Didn't CMU ask for, and recieve, over a million dollars to study study this type of thing. Money that was supose to go towards mitigating the impacts of the industry on the local economies? Someone help straighten me out.

I see that scientific studies and the scientific method is beyond the scope of comprehension for most folks on this site. Perhaps a science class would have greatly improved the ability to comprehend human exposures, air modeling and environmental sampling methodologies, but, I suppose, what do you expect from folks who chose not to enter the science field and just rely on talking points and "gut feelings" to rule their existence.

  Ah, another pseudo-intellectual looking down at the "little" people. Actually there's nothing wrong with "science" when it exists, but in cases like this when the academics receive "grants" (ie: get paid) to "study" something, they generally report back to their patrons exactly what those patrons want to hear. It's not that we "little people" can't understand "science", it's that employees of public universities so rarely practice it. We know the game, either you do too and you're trying to snow everyone or you're too stupid to have figured out how "science" works in the world of government grants.

    The big ole words they use is called industrial hygiene and the art and the science of ih is not the strongest of our population it is geared towards the weakest. Ih deals with exposures and dose rate, ld50, etc. so you see the bm study is geared towards determining exposure through ingestion, inhalation and absorption of chemicals and what, if any affect on a said population. You can try to make science into your political tool, but remember, science is Latin for knowledge. Also, remember what Paracelsus said, "everything is a poison, the only thing that separates a poison from a cure is the dose". To paraphrase. So, stick with the hate filled rhetoric of you and your ilk, et science do what it does, you perhaps ought not be injecting your flawed 2 cents on something you have no idea about, stick with the hate, it suits you better.

      As if, you know anything about ih, human exposures, you can't come back with anything other than a snow comment, it's pretty easy for you to google industrial hygiene, Paracelsus, or human exposure modeling and sampling. It is a scientific discipline all by itself. I know it is human nature to fear what you do not understand, but with the Internet, everyone is able to perform research. I know you want to paint me into a corner with a word like liberal, conservative, republican, pseudo intellectual, etc. you probably believe I am one of these, I have worked the energy sector for 20 years, nuclear, o and g, mining, etc. I am pro domestic energy but I refuse to put on industry blinders, everything has impact. We need domestic production of o and g, we need nuclear, coal, etc. but just because you are an industry cheerleader, you don't have to turn a blind eye to POTENTIAL exposures of folks on bm, you do not have a well in your backyard or you would be nimby.
